Congratulations, Bobby Cronin! pro junior tournament a successSaturday, September 27, 2008 at Bear Lakes Country Club A huge success as over 84 players (21 teams) competed in the annual Southeast Chapter of the South Florida PGA's Pro-Junior Tournament. Don Law Golf Center sent five teams to compete in this years event. This year winning team was host Assistant Professional at Bear Lakes Toby Hill along with juniors Conor Richardson, Julia Hitchins, and Ryan Fountain had a score of 58.
Don law, bill scott & RICK HEARD honoredDon Law, Director of Instruction has been awarded the 2007 Golf Professional of the Year Award for the Southeast Chapter of the South Florida PGA. This award recognizes the for his/her overall performance, level of service to the Association, leadership, image and the ability to inspire fellow professionals and promote the game of golf. Bill Scott, PGA Teaching Professional has been awarded the 2007 Junior Golf Leader of the Year by the Southeast Chapter of the South Florida PGA. This award recognizes a PGA golf professional who is a leader in junior golf, reflects the qualities and ideals of those who work with our nation's youth, and provides opportunities and experiences for juniors to learn and play golf. Rick Heard, PGA Teaching Professional has been award the 2007 Horton Smith Award for the Southeast Chapter of the South Florida PGA. This recognizes the professional who provides outstanding and continuous contributions in developing and improving educational opportunities for the PGA Professional. Congratulations to our guys for a great job. It is worth noting that the Southeast Chapter of the South Florida PGA has over 800 PGA Professionals. This Chapter is bigger than any whole PGA Section in the United States. dennis walters golf clinicThe Dennis Walters golf clinic held April 15, 2008 was as one of the biggest in recent memory. Over 800 kids were bused in to the Golf Center on Tuesday for the Dennis Walters Golf Clinic. Many prizes were awarded as Dennis delivered his inspirational clinics to the local youth. A special thanks to all of the PGA Professionals and South Florida Section staff who made this event possible. Jersey Mike's were a major sponsor again as in years past. Jersey Mike's donated over 900 subs, chips and drinks to all youth and school teachers and chaperones. Also passed out to each child in attendence was a SECSGPGA Junior Camp Scholarship Application. This will allow any child in need of financial assistance to go to camp a vehicle to get to local junior camps. DLGIC night Putting Contest resultsThe winners of our inagural night putting contest is Josh and Brian with a score of 48. The tournament was nicely filled with over 20 teams. We had junior-junior teams playing against adult-junior and adult-adult teams. Needless to say youth won out over everyone tonight. Not one adult-adult team placed in this events winners circle. They will need to visit with their local DLGIC teaching professional to help them compete with the kids next year. This was closely contested tournament as they narrowly beat Krit Oukosavanna and Chris deMartino at 49. 3rd place Ryan Toner and Alex Kristal 51, 4th place Paul and Brian Leikert tied with Charlie and Carlos Torano 52, 6th place Larry and Matt Kraska 53. Congratulations to our winners and thank you for your participation. Little "big" break IIWeathering the cold (for South Florida) weather and raindrops Chris deMartino outdueled Carlie Goldstein for the 2008 Little "BIG" Break overall crown. In other divisions: Age group 8/9 Krit Oukasavana outlasted Justin Zweibel and RJ Murphy outlasted Gabriella Soares for the 7 & under group. Congratulations to all who participated great job for our winners.
OUR 2007 uLTIMATE lAST mAN STANDING cHAMPION HAS BEEN CROWNEDHoliday party another hit at Don Law Golf Improvement Center. Over 100 juniors attended the VERY popular hoiliday party and Ultimate Last Man Standing Championship. We hope everyone enjoyed this third annual event and we appreciate your long standing support of our program.

Over $6000 was raised as a result of all of our volunteers and PGA Professionals hard work and donated time. Divot the Clown opened for us this year and was followed by our very own junior golfers skill and trick shot show. Yummy hot dogs and soft pretzels filled everyones tummies this year. Thank you to Gary deMartino's food management for this years successful food fundraising. Our first annual silent auction proved to raise the most money for junior golf this year. This event will become an a staple at future events. A special thanks to all PGA professionals that made equipment and/or rounds of golf donations that made this possible.

Earlier this year Don was recognized by the SFPGA as the Bill Strausbaugh award winner for 2006. This award is presented to those PGA members who, by their day-to-day efforts, have made significant contributions through mentoring of PGA Professionals.
